The First Member of the Barn Crew: Meet Bethan!

Hey there! I’m Bethan and here’s a little bit more about me…

I study business at The University of Bath in England, which hopefully is the first step towards setting up my very own animal charity. My love of animals is what drew me to this amazing camp and their fantastic horse riding program. I’m a rider myself, mainly competing in show jumping, but I have also done a fair few gymkhanas and dressage tests over the years. In case you haven’t already guessed it, I will be one of the Coppercreek riding instructors!

I’m super sporty, growing up in both athletics and netball teams, and I’ve got two older sisters; one in Australia and one in London. I also lived in Singapore for 2 years where I fell in love with travelling. My other favourite things include eating great food and listening to music.

My friends see me as an older sister, in other words, if anything is bothering you, come to me, and I’ll listen and help you out as best as I can.

I am so excited to come to camp and meet you all. This will be my first time staying in America, so I can’t wait to learn all about the amazing American things that I have been missing out on in my life so far!

Joining Us at the Barn… Meet Shelby!

Hi all! My name is Shelby Jones and I’m from Granite Bay, CA. This is going to be my second summer returning as a staff member. Many of you will remember that I was the F.B.I. cabin counselor last year and this year I will be one of the horseback riding instructors.

I grew up riding in the United States Pony Club and I have trained and competed in Eventing, Show Jumping and Dressage. When I’m not at camp I spend most of my free time at the barn riding and taking care of my new horse, Charlie. Charlie is a retired racehorse that I am currently retraining to be an eventing horse, which has been a very challenging and also rewarding process. Horses are my life passion and I’m very excited to share all that I can with you all while I’m at camp.

I can’t wait to be back at Coppercreek this summer. I’ve missed making friendship bracelets, singing stand up songs, paddle boarding, canoeing and most of all my friends from camp.

Joining Us from the UK… Meet Lucy!

Hello everyone! My name is Lucy and I’m from a small town called Tavistock in the UK. This is my first trip to America and I’m so excited to meet everyone at Coppercreek! I love animals and I am currently studying Equine Science and Business at University. I can’t wait to get stuck in at the barn.
When I am not playing ponies, I love to go to the beach to spend time with my family and play fetch with the dogs! I enjoy most sports, especially if they are outside, and taking photographs of the animals on the farm where I live.
I did many Pony Club and Brownie camps as a child and I want to make sure that everyone has as much fun as I did. See you all very soon 🙂
